Exhibition as part of the f/stop Festival for Photography Leipzig.
31 May – 16 June 2024 in the Saxon Waiting Room, Leipzig Central Station
Exhibition opening on 31 May 2024, 7 p.m., with a welcome address by Leipzig's Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Culture, Dr Skadi Jennicke
‘We Saxons are bright, the whole world knows that! And if we're not bright, then we're pretending,’ says an old Saxon proverb. Since childhood, Frieder Bickhardt has been puzzled by the idea that ‘the Saxons’ are something special. It's not just rhyming sayings that refer to this; politicians also use this local pride in their messages. After thorough research and a calm look through his large-format camera, he has captured various places, scenes and events in Saxony in photographs. These are places where something has happened and is still happening. Something that is and can become part of the ‘Saxon’ identity for many.

The f/stop Festival for Photography runs from 31 May to 16 June 2024 and, true to its title ‘Escape into the Public Sphere’, will expand into public spaces. We are delighted that ‘Komplex : Heimat’ is part of this year's f/stop Festival for Photography. Eight photographs from the work will be on display. The group exhibition in the Saxon waiting room of Leipzig Central Station was curated by Leon Hösl and Magdalena Stöger.
