‘ My father was an alcoholic and
died almost 12 years ago.
That's not something I liked to talk about
and it made it very difficult
to talk about my family in general.
That was and still is a dark shadow
that is associated with a great deal of sadness.
So I decided to make a kind of alternative photo album
as part of this workshop,
without leaving out the shameful aspects.
To combat hiding, so to speak, with the help of
pictures and statements from my father, my sister, my mother
and me about this time.
Through this work, I have also explored how unprocessed
feelings of shame and inferiority made my father suffer
and thus at the same time made an attempt to recognise these feelings
in me through an open showing. ’
